 Title: Applications Specialist A / B

 Responsibilities:  

    To function as a Applications Specialist providing application and technical support on Varian Inc., NMR product lines and peripherals. Performs the most complex and advanced customer related service functions that are beyond the normal scope of the Product Service Specialist A. This includes, but is not limited, to Design Engineering, Applications Support, or Service Management activities that impact the entire organization. Assist in the development and delivery of product training and act as the service liaison between R&D and Manufacturing in support of existing and new products. Specific emphasis is on NMR applications as well as supporting the computer hardware and software associated with Varian NMR Instruments. This is primarily, but not limited, to Sun Microsystems hardware, operating systems, system administration and associated networking protocols. Knowledge of Varian NMR spectrometers is essential. Will be required to assist in the creation of technical training information, service bulletins and any other associated technical information. May perform other duties as required.
     

 Qualifications:  

    1. Typically requires a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, or other related technical discipline.
    2. Experience in NMR applications is required and familiarity with UNIX and VNMR programming language preferred.
    3. An in depth understanding of RF, Analog and Digital electronic circuitry as it pertains to NMR instrumentation is highly desirable.
    4. Good written and verbal communication skills are required, including teaching technical subjects to students of varying knowledge levels and documenting new tests and procedures.
    5. Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively work in a team environment and interact with customers, account managers, product managers, design engineers, application chemists as well as installation and field service engineers.
